Samuel L. Jackson signed up for nine Marvel movies and didn't know how long he'd have to stay alive
Samuel L. Jackson has revealed that he signed a nine-picture deal with Marvel Studios for the role of Nick Fury. The actor appeared in his first Marvel movie, Iron Man, in 2008.
In an interview with GQ magazine, Jackson admitted that he didn't know how long he'd have to stay alive to fulfill the contract. Marvel was producing movies at a rapid pace, and Jackson quickly realized that he would need to stay healthy to keep up with his commitments.
Jackson has since appeared in 12 Marvel movies, including multiple Avengers films and standalone titles like Iron Man 2 and The Marvels. He has also starred in his own Disney+ series, Secret Invasion.
The actor has said that he is grateful for his role as Nick Fury and that he has enjoyed being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has also said that he is not interested in chasing Oscars and that he prefers to have fun and make blockbuster movies.
