Sabrina Carpenter kicked off her Short n' Sweet Tour in Columbus, Ohio, on September 23, performing a setlist entirely pulled from her latest two albums, Short n’ Sweet and 2022's emails i can’t send.
The 21-song show started with "Taste" and wrapped up with "Espresso," but notably, none of her earlier four albums were included.
Carpenter has been praised for her creative "Nonsense" outros, a highlight from her opening performances on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. For her current tour, Carpenter avoided writing new outros by cutting her mic abruptly at the end of "Nonsense."
In an unexpected twist, she descends from the stage, and a screen reads, “We apologize for the interruption of our program due to technical difficulties,” sparking amusement and surprise among fans.
The full setlist includes crowd favorites like "Tornado Warnings," "Feather," and "because i liked a boy." She even threw in a surprise cover of ABBA’s "Mamma Mia" during her first show.
As for why she didn’t perform any songs from her previous albums, Carpenter explained to Variety in August, “I personally feel a sense of separation from them,” referencing a shift in her artistry after the pandemic. Her most recent records, she says, reflect her "adult" identity and greater creative control.
