Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently in custody on federal sex crime charges, is being held in the same dormitory-style area of the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn as FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, sources told PEOPLE. Combs, 54, was denied bail by two judges and has been incarcerated since September 17, 2024. He is awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Bankman-Fried, convicted in 2023 on federal fraud charges, has been housed at MDC since last year.

A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to confirm the exact location where Combs is being held, stating, "We do not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual in our custody, including housing quarters or cell assignments" (PEOPLE). Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, argued that MDC is "not fit for pre-trial detention," citing "horrific" conditions at the facility.

Despite these claims, a source told PEOPLE that Combs "is being treated like any other detainee awaiting trial." Upon his arrival, as is standard with public figures in custody, Combs was placed on suicide watch for precautionary reasons. Prosecutors allege that Combs organized “freak offs,” where women were coerced into sexual acts, and sometimes recorded the events.

If convicted on all charges, Combs faces up to life in prison. His legal team maintains that he is “strong, healthy, and focused on his defense” as he prepares for his next court appearance in early October.
