The Philadelphia Eagles secured a narrow 15-12 victory over the New Orleans Saints in Week 3, clinched by Reed Blankenship’s late interception of Derek Carr with 55 seconds remaining. However, the postgame celebration took a turn when Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter got into a heated exchange with Saints players and fans.
Carter, in his second NFL season, reportedly gave a double thumbs-down gesture towards Saints players Marshon Lattimore and Tyrann Mathieu, which led to a verbal confrontation with Mathieu. Carter then walked the sidelines, attempting to incite the New Orleans crowd, prompting intervention from Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, defensive line coach Clint Hurtt, and security officer Dom DiSandro.
Sirianni was not asked about the altercation postgame, but he praised Carter’s on-field performance, stating, "Jalen Carter played his butt off." The defensive tackle contributed with four tackles, two tackles for loss (TFL), and two pass defenses, significantly impacting the Saints’ offense. Despite the incident, Carter’s performance, along with teammate Jordan Davis, helped limit New Orleans to just 12 points.
Though Carter’s postgame behavior could have overshadowed the Eagles’ victory, it ultimately didn’t affect the outcome of the game, which marked Philadelphia’s second win of the season.
