Courteney Cox reflects on Friends’ 30th anniversary

Courteney Cox discusses the lasting legacy of Friends and how her character Monica Geller remains iconic.

Courteney Cox looked back on Friends as the hit show celebrated its 30th anniversary. Speaking at the Rock4EB event on Sept. 21 in Malibu, California, the 60-year-old actress reflected on the show’s milestone, telling PEOPLE, "It's just insane to me because it feels like time, it goes so fast." Cox portrayed Monica Geller on the NBC sitcom, which aired from 1994 to 2004. When asked about her iconic character, she humorously responded, "Monica is alive and well. Are you kidding?"

While Cox admitted she hasn't watched an episode "in a little while," she noted that whenever she comes across it, "I can't help but [watch]." Reflecting on the show’s enduring appeal, she said, "That show is incredible. Every joke holds up... and we [had] the best writers in the world." Despite rumors of a reboot, Cox expressed doubts, saying, "It's hard to try to redo anything... I think it's so special."

The event, which Cox attended to support the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, has raised over $8 million for research. Celebrities including Pink and Brad Pitt were among the attendees.
