Traffic cop killed resisting robbers

Two unidentified robbers attempted to snatch the official pistol from an on-duty Traffic Police Constable,

KARACHI:

Armed muggers riding a motorcycle shot a traffic police official dead during an attempt to snatch his official weapon on Sher Shah Road in District Keamari on Saturday. A passerby was also killed after being hit by a bullet fired by the fleeing robbers.

According to a police spokesperson, two unidentified robbers on a motorcycle attempted to snatch the official pistol from an on-duty Traffic Police Constable, 54-year-old Khuda Bakhsh, at RD Chowk in Sher Shah, who put up resistance.

In the ensuing scuffle, the muggers opened fire, critically injuring Constable Khuda Bakhsh, who was deployed at Khizar Hayat traffic section. He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to Civil Hospital.

The spokesperson further stated that a passerby, identified as 25-year-old Ghausullah, was also killed by the firing of muggers who fled with the official weapon of the policeman.

The deceased policeman was the father of four children, including three daughters and one son. He was a resident of Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road in Lyari. The deceased passerby, Ghausullah, was a street vendor selling old shoes, and hailed from Quetta.

The slain traffic police officer was shot three times in the neck, chest, and arm, and police investigators have recovered four 9mm bullet casings from the crime scene.
