Youth kills father for money

Dispute originated from deceased brother's share

SHAKARGARH:

An 18-year-old boy killed his father while he was asleep, following a dispute over the deceased brother's posthumous financial benefits.

The incident took place in Pindori Dhonda, within the jurisdiction of the Sadar Shakargarh police station.

The accused, identified as Ghulam Mustafa, fatally attacked his father, Muhammad Rafiq, with bricks while he was sleeping.

According to preliminary investigations, Mustafa wanted his late brother's financial dues transferred to his name. His brother, Ghulam Murtaza, had been employed by a government agency and had passed away recent-ly. Mustafa had reportedly been pressuring his father to be named as the beneficiary of his late brother's financial entitlements, which the father refused.

After the murder, the accused initially attempted to deceive authorities by claiming his father had died of a ruptured artery. However, the police registered a case based on the complaint of the victim's sister and arrested Mustafa.

The police also transferred the body to the hospital for further investigation.

The victim's sister, who also lives in Pindori Dhonda, recounted that her nephew had been persistently harassing her brother to have the financial dues transferred to him.

She added that on the day of the incident, she had briefly gone out to buy milk, and upon returning, witnessed Ghulam Mustafa repeatedly striking her brother with a hammer, causing fatal injuries to his face, forehead, and head.

Local residents arrived at the scene and attempted to help, but Muhammad Rafiq had already succumbed to his injuries.
