One killed, five injured in Kurram clashes
One man was killed and five other sustained serious injuries when armed clashes erupted between rival factions in the troubled Kurram tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.
Resultantly, the Parachinar-Tall Road remained closed for all kinds of traffic throughout the day. Police told The Express Tribune that the exchange of fire took place in Boshehra and Baleshkhel due to a land dispute and the construction of bunkers.
Heavy and automatic weapons were used during the clashes, resulting in one person's death and five others were injured.
Local Jirga members, police, and the district administration were able to negotiate a ceasefire in Boshehra, but the main road remained closed in Baleshkhel due to non-stop firing.
While a complete ceasefire has been announced from the Harkali side, sporadic firing continues from the Baleshkhel area.
Police said that Jirga members and the district administration are continuously working to persuade the youth and elders of Baleshkhel to agree to a ceasefire.
District administration has announced that due to the efforts of the security forces, district administration, police, and tribal elders tension between the two tribes had been defused.
