ISLAMABAD:

The Excise and Taxation Department in Islamabad conducted a series of raids and arrested thirty individuals for various offences, registering cases at relevant police stations.

According to officials, new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for vehicle registration and transfer have been issued.

These include allowing a proxy with an authority letter or biometric verification to handle registrations if the owner cannot visit the office personally. A mobile van service and online applications are also available for vehicle registration.

In a crackdown on price gouging in the vegetable market, Assistant Commissioner Aneeq Anwar arrested 11 vendors for selling above official price lists.

Moreover, six individuals were arrested for violating dengue prevention measures, with daily enforcement operations mandated by the deputy commissioner. The district administration closed down five LPG outlets for overcharging customers and arrested one person for illegally filling LPG in vehicles.

These actions are part of the Islamabad district administration's broader effort to improve compliance with regulations, enhance public services, and protect citizens from exploitation.

In recent weeks, the capital has seen a surge in street crime where scores of citizens have been deprived of their valuable possessions.
