In charge of Rawat police station Phase VII, Sub-Inspector Faizan, and Investigating Officer ASI Ashfaq appeared in court to offer an unconditional apology for the illegal arrest and detention of two individuals, who were reportedly subjected to torture.
The officers admitted in a packed court and apologized to both the victims and the court for their actions.
The police officers submitted an affidavit, expressing regret and vowing not to overstep their authority in the future.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Waseem Anjum accepted the apology but issued a stern warning, stating that any future illegal actions, arrests, or false cases would be met with severe legal consequences.
Shehryar and Mahajir Khan, two citizens who were illegally arrested, have been released. The arrest warrant against the checkpost in charge was also withdrawn.
The officers allegedly subjected the individuals to torture and demanded personal benefits. The case was admitted to the court following the officers' apology to the court bailiff.
