Canna Coffee, a popular café in Adams Morgan, has been shut down by D.C. authorities after its owner, Greg Harris, was captured in a viral video berating a delivery driver, telling him to “learn English.”

The incident, which saw Harris shouting at the Venezuelan driver, has sparked significant public outrage. D.C. officials stated that the café was operating illegally despite previous shutdown orders issued by the health department.

The closure came just days after the viral encounter. Harris repeatedly yelled at the driver and made derogatory remarks, including “this ain’t your f---ing country,” while thrusting a bag of food at the driver. D.C. police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime, though no arrests have been made.

City officials revealed that Canna Coffee had been under investigation for months, receiving multiple infraction notices for operational violations. Despite being warned, the shop continued its operations until the final order was enforced.

Both Uber Eats and DoorDash have since banned Canna Coffee from their platforms, citing zero-tolerance policies for discriminatory behaviour. An Uber spokesperson said the company was "absolutely disgusted" by Harris’s actions.

Harris has refused to comment, except for controversial statements on social media. His Instagram bio now refers to the incident, describing himself as "the guy who went viral for telling the truth in a #mean way."
