Olivia Nuzzi, a Washington correspondent for New York Magazine, has been placed on leave following allegations of a romantic relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former presidential candidate she previously reported on. The magazine issued a statement acknowledging that Nuzzi disclosed her personal relationship with a subject relevant to the 2024 campaign, which violated the magazine’s conflict of interest policies.

"Had the magazine been aware of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign," the statement read. While an internal review found no inaccuracies or bias in Nuzzi's published work, the magazine is conducting a third-party investigation to ensure full transparency. New York Magazine emphasized its regret over this breach of trust with readers.

Nuzzi, known for her political reporting, including during Donald Trump’s presidency, admitted in her own statement that her relationship with RFK Jr. became personal earlier this year, after her November 2023 profile on him. She clarified that their relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest. "I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues," Nuzzi wrote.

According to reports, Nuzzi’s alleged relationship with Kennedy began around the start of 2024, and she failed to proactively inform the magazine. Kennedy, who ended his third-party presidential bid in August and endorsed Donald Trump, has been married to actress Cheryl Hines since 2014.

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to both Nuzzi and Kennedy for comment, but neither has responded publicly. New York Magazine continues its review of the situation to uphold journalistic standards and maintain reader trust.
