The National Institute of Health, on the direction of Health Coordinator Dr Mukhtar Bharath, has issued an advisory on the prevention of Chikungunya.
The advisory has been shared with relevant health institutions to ensure timely measures against the disease. Chikungunya, a viral illness caused by the Chikungunya virus and transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, resembles dengue and is prevalent in tropical regions. Most cases have been reported in Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, with outbreaks also continuing in various parts of Pakistan.
