RAWALPINDI:

A successful raid by a judicial bailiff at the Phase-7 police post in Rawat resulted in the rescue of two young men who had been illegally detained in a torture cell for several days. Following their release, the in-charge of the police post registered a case of mobile theft against both individuals and quickly sought their physical remand at the court.

Civil Judge Mudassir Iqbal rejected the police's request for remand, discharging the detainees, Mahajirin Khan and Shahriyar, from the case. Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Waseem Anjum ordered legal action against the in-charge of the Phase-7 police post for unlawful detention, issuing arrest warrants for the Station House Officer of Rawat police station.

The application for illegal detention was filed by Advocate Chaudhry Waseem Aslam, who claimed that the police had been holding the two young men in a torture cell for several days. The Additional Sessions Judge directed the immediate appointment of Jabir Mahmood as a judicial bailiff to carry out the raid. Upon executing the raid, the bailiff found both men in the torture cell.
