IMF demands quick disposal of tax cases

ISLAMABAD:

International Monetary Fund has demanded from Pakistan for the expeditious disposal of the pending tax cases.

Tax cases worth Rs3,760 billion are pending

in appellate tribunals

and courts.

According to FBR,

the amount of pending cases in the appellate tribunals has reached Rs2,235 billion from Rs1,460 billion.

As many as 3,450 tax cases worth Rs105 billion are pending in the Supreme Court. Around 780 cases are pending in IHC, 670 cases in LHC and 400 cases in PHC. A huge number of 71,300 cases are pending in inland revenue appellate tribunals.
