Sebastian Stan defends Marvel films, stating they contribute significantly to the industry and their intention is good

Sebastian Stan has spoken out against the frequent criticism of Marvel movies, stating that it has become “really convenient to pick on” them. In an interview with Variety, the actor, known for his role as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, defended the franchise’s impact on the entertainment industry. "They're a big part of what contributes to this business and allows us to have smaller movies as well," he remarked, noting that Marvel films are essential to Hollywood's overall success.

Stan also expressed his personal connection to Marvel, stating, “Sometimes I get protective of it because the intention is really f---ing good. It’s just f---ing hard to make a good movie over and over again.” He also praised Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, calling him “the most selfless man on this planet,” and highlighting Feige’s dedication to innovation. “They legitimately spend so much time thinking, how could we surprise people and give people something different?” Stan added, mentioning Feige’s motto: “The best idea wins.”

Looking ahead to his upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts, set for release in May 2025, Stan compared the film’s concept to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, describing it as “a guy coming into this group that was chaotic and degenerate, and somehow finding a way to unite them.” He urged critics to “keep an open heart” and not judge Marvel films too quickly.
