Iconic metal band Metallica will perform in Syracuse for the first time in nearly 30 years as part of their 2025 M72 World Tour. The concert will take place on April 19, 2025, at the JMA Wireless Dome on the Syracuse University campus. It marks Metallica’s first show in the venue, previously known as the Carrier Dome, and their first visit to Syracuse since 1996, when they headlined at the New York State Fairgrounds during Lollapalooza.

Joining Metallica for the Syracuse concert will be special guests Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies. The show will feature a central stage with 360-degree seating around the Dome and a standing "snake pit" area in the middle. Tickets go on sale on Friday, September 27, at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Prices have not yet been announced, but fans can also explore resale platforms like VividSeats, StubHub, and SeatGeek.

Metallica, formed in California, has sold more than 125 million albums worldwide and won 10 Grammy Awards. Known for hits like "Enter Sandman," "Nothing Else Matters," and "Master of Puppets," the band is still composed of core members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo. Their latest album, 72 Seasons, was released in 2023.

Metallica's last Syracuse performances were in 1986 and 1989 at the War Memorial, and in 1994 and 1996 at the New York State Fairgrounds. The Syracuse concert will be the band’s only stop in New York state during the 2025 tour.
