IHC orders ten-day response from officials regarding Zain Qureshi's arrest

The court is seeking answers from multiple government officials regarding the incident.

The Islamabad High Court has instructed the Secretary of the National Assembly and several other officials to submit a response within ten days regarding the recent arrest of Zain Qureshi from Parliament House.

Previously, the IHC removed objections raised by the Registrar's Office concerning Zain's petition against his arrest.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq directed the Registrar's Office to schedule the case for hearing on Thursday.

In his plea, Zain asserted that his arrest violated Article 10A of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to a fair trial.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq presided over the hearing concerning Zain's detention, questioning the timeline of events.

Lawyer Taimoor Malik informed the court that several parliament members, including Zain, were arrested on September 9.

The court has issued notices to the Ministry of Interior, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, the Inspector General of Islamabad, and the Secretary of the National Assembly, instructing them to submit their responses within ten days.

The hearing has been postponed until further information is provided as the court seeks clarity on the circumstances surrounding the arrests of parliamentary members.
