The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs and weapons disguised as electronic goods.

The operation took place at a courier office near Nursery Stop in Karachi.

According to the ANF spokesperson, the parcel, sent from Peshawar, contained 1.2 kilograms of cannabis along with five 9mm pistols, two .30-calibre pistols, and 17 magazines with 55 rounds.

The contraband was expertly hidden inside battery chargers and juicer machines, making detection difficult.

The parcel was booked from Peshawar’s Karkhano Market for delivery to Karachi.

Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those involved in the smuggling attempt.

Further action is underway to apprehend the suspects.

In a similar case, Malaysian authorities seized drugs worth Rs5 billion from a consignment of onions sent from Karachi.

The consignment contained 100kg of cocaine and 411kg of methamphetamine.

An emergency message sent to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) by Malaysian authorities, stated that the Malaysian police have recovered more than 500kg of drugs from a container loaded with Pakistani onions.

The letter sent by the Malaysian authorities said that the Malaysian Narcotics Crime Investigation Department and customs conducted a joint raid on a warehouse in Cheras Prima, Malaysia, and found the drugs in onion sacks loaded on a container.

According to the document, the Malaysian authorities arrested five local suspects, all aged between 21 and 53, under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

An emergency message has been sent to the FBR and TDAP in Pakistan by Malaysian authorities.

The Pakistan Customs Preventive registered a formal FIR on this matter.

Two Pakistanis were arrested on charges of drug trafficking.

The suspect Chaudhry Nadeem was later detained at the Karachi airport while leaving for Thailand.

Sources said that the authorities in Pakistan also arrested the clearing agent Amir Ali Khan.

Sources said that the company in whose name the goods declaration (GD) was filed was the second GD of this company.

It may be mentioned that the anti-narcotics cell officials check all the consignments at the port before the departure.

In another case, a drug-smuggling bid was foiled at the Islamabad International Airport.

As many as 84 capsules full of drugs were recovered from the stomach of a passenger travelling to Bahrain from the Islamabad International Airport.

In total, more than half a kilogram of narcotics was swallowed by the passenger in the shape of capsules. The Anti-Narcotics Force registered a case against the passenger and launched an investigation.

An ANF spokesperson said that Kashif Ahmed, a passenger from Bonair, was travelling to Bahrain from Islamabad via PIA flight PK-187 when the ANF personnel took the passenger into custody on suspicion and interrogated him.

During the investigation, the passenger disclosed that he had drug-filled capsules in his stomach.

The passenger was shifted to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi where the capsules were recovered by doctors. Of the 84 capsules recovered, 78 contained heroin and six contained ice powder (methamphetamine), the ANF spokesperson said.

The drugs contained in 84 capsules weighed 644 grams of heroin and 35 grams of ice powder.
