LAHORE:

The Punjab government has decided to quash so-called "politically-motivated" cases filed against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers, party sources revealed on Wednesday.

The Advocate General of Punjab has been directed to gather the records of all such cases involving PML-N workers, with a focus on expediting their dismissal.

According to party insiders, the cases in which the state is the complainant have been fast-tracked for closure on priority.

The decision comes as a breath of fresh air for PML-N members, officials, and workers who have been facing these charges across the province, including Lahore.

Party sources confirmed that several of these cases included charges under terrorism-related laws following clashes between PML-N workers and police during the rallies. The previous administration under Usman Buzdar had reportedly filed dozens of cases against PML-N leaders during Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz's return to Pakistan.

Additionally, hundreds of party leaders and workers were booked during Maryam Nawaz's appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The Advocate General's office has now begun compiling records of all politically motivated cases filed against PML-N leaders and workers, as the Punjab government seeks to bring an end to what it views as politically driven legal actions, party sources revealed.
