Dolly Parton calls Taylor Swift a "great inspiration," admires her musical journey
In a recent interview, country music icon Dolly Parton expressed her admiration for Taylor Swift, highlighting the singer's evolution from a country star to a global pop phenomenon.
Parton, known for her own legendary career, spoke about Swift during a sit-down with Variety, describing her as an "inspiration" in today's music industry.
Parton, 78, praised Swift's ability to navigate both her career and personal life while making a significant positive impact on young people. "I think she's a great inspiration," Parton shared.
The veteran singer also commented on Swift's musical journey, which began in country music before transitioning to pop, indie, and rock genres. Despite her shift, Swift's country roots remain evident in her music.
The country legend also expressed her support for emerging female artists, mentioning Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. Parton acknowledged their individual talents, saying, "I think they are all great in their own way."
In contrast to her praise for Swift, Parton briefly addressed the controversy surrounding Beyoncé's album Cowboy Carter and its exclusion from the Country Music Association nominations.
While she complimented Beyoncé's work and welcomed her to the country music scene, Parton emphasized that the CMA had to prioritize artists who have spent their lives in the genre. Despite this, she noted the importance of Beyoncé's contributions, including her version of "Jolene."
