Indie rock duo The Kills, composed of vocalist Alison Mosshart and guitarist Jamie Hince, are set to enchant fans with their upcoming EP, "Happier Girls," which is scheduled for release this Friday.

The EP is highlighted by a soulful rendition of Billie Eilish’s hit "Happier Than Ever," transformed from its original somber tone into a dynamic rock anthem.

The duo first explored the song acoustically during a Sirius XM session in 2023, which caught the attention of Domino Records founder Laurence Bell, prompting the electrified studio version.

“I’d always really dug ‘Happier Than Ever’ and found myself singing it around the house all the time,” Mosshart revealed.

“It seemed like a good choice since I loved it and loved singing it.” This enthusiasm led to a creative reimagining of Eilish's work, infusing it with The Kills' signature rock flair.

The "Happier Girls" EP will be available in both physical and digital formats.

A special 7" vinyl will feature the electric cover of "Happier Than Ever" alongside "My Girls My Girls" from their 2023 EP "God Games."

The digital version will include additional tracks from "God Games" such as "103," "New York," and "Better Days."

Reuniting with producer Paul Epworth, their first soundman from 2002, The Kills have crafted a nostalgic yet fresh auditory experience.

“Here we were in London, recording a non-electric EP and what’s the first song on it?” Mosshart said.

“An electric cover of the acoustic cover we did… and the more electricity the better. Thank you Billie for writing such a brilliant song!”

The Kills are also gearing up for a busy fall tour schedule with stops in Jackson, Mississippi, and New Orleans, as well as appearances at the Mempho Music Festival in Memphis, the Billy Reid Shindig in Florence, Alabama, and Festival Hipnosis in Mexico City.
