REO Speedwagon announces retirement from touring due to 'irreconcilable differences'

REO Speedwagon announces retirement from touring after irreconcilable differences between Kevin Cronin and Bruce Hall.

REO Speedwagon has announced that they will stop touring at the end of 2024 due to irreconcilable differences between lead vocalist Kevin Cronin and bassist Bruce Hall. The band made the announcement on their official website, explaining that tensions arose after Hall took a break for back surgery last year. Despite health issues, Hall did not plan to retire, and Cronin also expressed his commitment to the band and its fans. The statement read, "Bruce never had any intention of retiring... Kevin has never had any intention of leaving the band, and the fans mean the world to him."

The conflict led to the decision to end the band's live performances after nearly five decades of touring. "Due to this complex situation, irreconcilable differences arose between Bruce and Kevin," the band added. Hall also posted a personal statement on Facebook, saying, "Never ever thought it would end like this and I’m heartbroken." He expressed his disappointment over not being able to have a farewell tour, stating, "We all deserved a farewell tour."

REO Speedwagon will continue their scheduled performances through November 2024, with their final show taking place on Nov. 23 in Lexington, Kentucky.
