Indian Prime Minister Modi calls for harmony in Eid Milad-un-Nabi message

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his best wishes on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the Islamic festival commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In a post on X, Modi conveyed his greetings, saying, "Eid Mubarak! Best wishes on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. May harmony and togetherness always prevail. Let there be joy and prosperity all around."

Milad-un-Nabi, celebrated during Rabiul Awwal, the 12th day of the third month in the Islamic calendar, sees Muslims worldwide participating in processions and gatherings.

Modi's speeches and policies are often seen as reinforcing an anti-Muslim sentiment, contributing to a climate of intolerance and polarisation.

His administration's handling of various incidents, including the 2002 Gujarat riots, in which he was accused of not doing enough to prevent violence, continues to fuel debates about his commitment to secularism and minority rights in India.
