Waseela-E-Haq: Cheque distribution disrupted by rain
Thus, only funds worth Rs150,000 were distributed.
KARACHI:
Only two of the 20 Waseela-e-Haq cheques among the beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in Karachi could be distributed on Saturday because of the rain. Thus, only funds worth Rs150,000 were distributed. BISP’s assistant media officer told The Express Tribune that the remaining 18 cheques would be distributed on Monday. The ceremony was being held in the backyard of the Karachi Press Club with MNA Abdul Qadir Patel and Sindh BISP DG Jiand Khan Jamaldini. “I heartily appreciate the efforts of BISP and believe that the programme has impacted millions of lives that were affected by abject poverty,” said Patel. Jamaldini shed light on BISP’s performance, claiming that the number of beneficiary families will rise to seven million after the Nationwide Poverty Scorecard Survey is completed.
