A Long Wait: Railways will improve with package

The main cause for the crisis is that the goods service has gone down.

KARACHI:
Federal Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has assured that the railway crisis will end in four to five months after the package approved by the federal cabinet is received. He held a press conference after a meeting on Saturday. The main cause for the crisis is that the goods service has gone down and income from the passenger service was never their main source of revenue. “The railway is the backbone of the country’s economy but proper attention was not paid to it in the past,” he said. The authorities have signed an agreement with a Chinese company for development. But it has been challenged in court and the case is pending.
