KARACHI:

The Sindh Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution regarding the finality of Prophethood (Khatm-e-Nabuwwat) and acknowledging the declaration of Qadianis (Ahmadi) as non-Muslims.

The house was one voice that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the last prophet of Allah and any person who claims to be a prophet is not a Muslim.

The resolution demanded that September 7 be observed as Youm-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (Finality of Prophethood) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the approval of the law which declared Qadianis as non-Muslims. Assembly members expressed their support for the resolution.

Jamaat-e-Islami's MPA Muhammad Farooq, who moved the resolution, said that September 7, 1974, was a great day when the National Assembly declared Qadianis non-Muslims and a minority. He paid tribute to the then-Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and others, including Maulana Maududi and Shah Ahmed Noorani for taking a brave and historic decision.

Farooq stated that Qadianis, being non-Muslims, pretend to be Muslims. However, after the law, they cannot call themselves Muslim or refer to their places of worship as Masajid. He declared that protecting the finality of Prophethood is part of a Muslim's faith, and the belief in the finality of Prophethood is the foundation of Islam.

MQM-P MPA Sheikh Abdullah said that the enemy of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will be punished in this world and the world hereafter. Founder of PPP, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto deserves all credit for declaring Qadianis non-Muslims.

MQM-P's Syed Ejazull Haque stated that the Sindh Assembly has the honour of presenting and discussing this resolution. On September 7, it was decided that Qadianis are among the worst infidels. For us, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is paramount.

PPP's Nuzhat Pathan said, "Qadianis don't believe in the finality of Prophethood; how can they claim to be Muslims? Bhutto sahab had said, he was signing his own death warrant when he signed the declaration against Qadianis in 1974, knowing well that these people would conspire against him."

Sunni Ittehad Council MPA Shabbir Qureshi praised the resolution, saying, "We pray for all those who spoke on the Constitutional Amendment to declare Qadianis non-Muslim in 1974. These people will remain respectable for the Ummah." He suggested including September 7 in the school curricula.

MQM's Farheen Sohail maintained that September 7, 1974, was a historic day and should be observed officially. After the resolution's unanimous passage, Speaker Owais Qadir Shah adjourned the session until Thursday at 2pm.
