Hillary Clinton criticizes Elon Musk's comments about Taylor Swift

Hillary Clinton has condemned Elon Musk's controversial comments regarding Taylor Swift, calling his offer to give her a child “rotten and creepy.” Appearing on Kara Swisher’s podcast, Clinton addressed Musk’s response to Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris for president. Musk, in a social media post on X, joked, “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” Clinton criticized the statement, saying, “It’s kind of another way of saying rape, I think,” a sentiment that Swisher agreed with. Clinton further remarked, “I can’t understand why he says what he says. It just is beyond my imagination.”

Clinton linked Musk’s comments to a broader issue of misogyny in the tech world, saying, “Misogyny is such a part of their worldview, and they gravitate toward toughness and brutality and machoism.” She contrasted this with Swift, whom she praised as “a self-made billionaire who brings joy to people and imparts life lessons, particularly to girls and women. They can’t stand it.”

Clinton also mentioned Donald Trump’s reaction to Swift’s endorsement of Harris. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Clinton said Swift’s endorsement was likely to “trigger” Trump, especially as it followed a debate that boosted Harris’ momentum. She added, “Swift brings an unusual impact to an endorsement,” noting the singer’s influence on her fanbase and her resilience in standing up for her rights.
