RAWALPINDI:

A businessman involved in import-export business, who was abducted from the Rawat area of Rawalpindi, was reportedly released by his kidnappers after a heavy ransom payment. The victim's family confirmed his return home, but the perpetrators have not yet been traced.

On August 13, the businessman, Talah Khan, was kidnapped from the Atomic Energy Housing Society, with the abductors demanding a ransom of Rs80 million. Initially, the police registered an abduction case based on a complaint by the victim's son, Shehzad Khan. Following the ransom demand, the charge was updated to include the ransom amount.

After the kidnapping, the abductors allegedly fired heavily at the victim's home and drawing room due to delays in receiving the ransom, causing significant damage to the property and vehicles. A separate case was filed for the harassment and damage caused by the gunfire.

Despite the police investigation into both the kidnapping and the harassment cases, the kidnappers managed to escape after receiving the ransom. They reportedly released the victim near Faizabad on Murree Road.

Shehzad Khan and his brother confirmed that their father was freed on September 14, a month after his abduction. They expressed serious concerns for their safety due to the attack on their home and requested increased protection.
