Mahira celebrates son's 15th birthday

Film and television actor Mahira Khan recently shared a picture from 2009. In it, she is resting in her hospital bed post-labour and gazing down at her then-newborn son, whose head is turned towards her. Mahira wrote, "A 24-year-old me, looking at my entire world stare at me - my one and only Azlan."

The caption further intoned, "May Allah keep my Azlan and all children safe. May they be blessed with happy, healthy, and long lives. May they choose the good path. May they always, always be protected from evil." She then quoted an Urdu saying from her mother, which roughly translates to: "Keep the hearts of all mothers cool, my Lord."

The 39-year-old actor linked the soulful song Hey Jude by The Beatles to her heartwarming post, adding, "PS, this is the song that was sung to Azzu the most while he was in my tummy and when he was born! He still loves The Beatles, oh and MJ!"

In the past, Mahira has shared multiple posts with her son with not one of them lacking the limitless fondness of a mother. A self-birthday post from 2019 featured Azlan as a toddler being held up in her arms as they both gazed at the camera. The caption read: "Exactly 10 years ago, my life changed. I was a 24-year-old girl with a baby in my arms, celebrating my 25th birthday. These ten years feel like a thousand with experiences worth a lifetime. I became a mother, I became an actor; there was loss and separation, I witnessed success and fame. I fell in love. I lost hope at times and mustered up courage most of the time."

The actor observed, "I realised some of my dreams, and had to let some go. And on this journey, I had all of you with me. Every step of the way. I wish I could write it all, maybe one day I will. I am so grateful for everything - all of it. We are nothing without the people who have stood by us - you all are the wind beneath my wings."

Her gratitude for her fans was ceaseless as she expressed, "I thank you with all my heart and soul. I promise you all that I will pay it forward in every way I possibly can. God willing. As I write this, here I am a 35-year-old woman with a 10-year-old, not-so-baby boy still wrapped in my arms."

In 2023, Azlan walked Mahira down the aisle to her non-celebrity beau Salim Karim and was present by his mother's side as devotedly as she has been by his.
