JoJo addresses ‘cold’ TRL encounter with idol, fans speculate it could be Christina Aguilera

Singer JoJo, currently promoting her new memoir Over the Influence, opened up about an uncomfortable encounter with a former idol during an interview on SiriusXM's TikTok Radio with host Lamar Dawson. When asked about a chapter in her book that describes a frosty meeting on MTV's TRL, Dawson directly questioned whether the idol in question was Christina Aguilera.

JoJo responded carefully, explaining how the encounter impacted her: "Feeling the way this person made me feel taught me [that] I just never want to make anyone feel that way. And it made me feel like ‘damn, you don’t want to meet your idols.’" She added that, despite this experience, she has had positive encounters with other stars, including Beyoncé. “I talked about meeting Beyonce in the book. And she’s just like truly the most incandescent. She’s just unbelievable,” JoJo shared.

While JoJo did not confirm the identity of the artist, many fans online speculated that the individual could be Christina Aguilera. Fans pointed to an old video of the two singers on TRL as evidence.

JoJo’s memoir, Over the Influence, set for release on September 17, is being described as "breathtakingly candid," offering fans an intimate look into her experiences in the music industry and beyond.
