KARACHI:

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday emphasised that democracy is the only path to Pakistan's bright future and lasting stability. In his message on the occasion of International Democracy Day, he highlighted the Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) role as the pioneer of democracy in the country.

"We have made countless sacrifices for the survival of democracy, with our leaders and workers shedding their blood for its cause," the CM stated. He added that democracy is a system where people have the power to choose their representatives, echoing the words of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, who famously called democracy "the best revenge."

In a separate statement, Governor Mohammed Kamran Khan Tessori expressed optimism about the progress of democracy in Pakistan.

"Today, democracy in Pakistan is stronger and more stable than in the past," he said in his message on International Democracy Day.

The governor stressed that Parliament is the supreme institution and urged everyone to respect it.
