'Shooting near Trump appears to be an attempted assassination'

The FBI said Sunday that a shooting near Donald Trump's golf course "appears to be an attempted assassination" of the Republican US presidential candidate.

"The FBI has responded to West Palm Beach Florida and is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump," it said in a statement.

US Vice President Kamala Harris condemned political violence after shots were fired near Donald Trump, her Republican rival in November's election.

"I have been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad he is safe," the Democrat said. "Violence has no place in America." AFP
