Murree, Attock to have new sports complexes
The Rawalpindi Sports and Youth Affairs Department has unveiled plans for three major projects, including the construction of a swimming pool and sports complexes in Murree's Bhurban and Attock.
According to sources, these projects will be funded through annual development funds, with a total estimated cost exceeding Rs534 million. The projects are expected to be completed by June 30, 2027. Tendering for the three initiatives will take place in October, with funds already allocated.
A state-of-the-art swimming pool, to be built in a European style, will be constructed in Rawalpindi at a divisional location. The project is estimated to cost Rs204.933 million, with land provided by the district administration.
In addition, a Tehsil Sports Complex will be built in Bhurban, Murree, at a cost of Rs100.650 million. Another Tehsil Sports Complex has been approved for Pindi Gheb in Attock, with an estimated cost of Rs229.251 million.
Both complexes will feature facilities for all indoor games, mini-hostels, and amenities for female athletes. Meanwhile, the previously planned swimming pool at Allama Iqbal Park in Shamsabad has been cancelled.
