45 SHOs booked over missing files

A case has been registered against 45 station house officers (SHOs) suspected of being involved in the theft of various case files.

In the case registered by Ghulam Muhammadabad SHO Rai Muhammad Arshad, it was stated that during the inspection of the police stations' records, it had been discovered that the suspects had not submitted dozens of case files to the prosecution branch, thus violating their authority. The files pertained to cases pursued since 2019.

The sub-inspectors facing the FIR remained posted as SHO at the Ghulam Muhammadabad police station during the period.

Upon the discovery regarding the missing record, the Ghulam Muhammadabad police registered the case against their own department's officials under Sections 380 and 155C and initiated further proceedings against them, local police officials said.
