Capital police apprehend rape suspect

The Islamabad Capital Police have apprehended an accused allegedly involved in a case of sexual abuse and obtained his remand from a local court for further investigation.

According to a police spokesperson, on 18 August 2024, the Golra police team received information from a victim who stated that she was sexually assaulted by an accused named Nauman Shafeeq. Upon receiving the information, the Golra police team registered a case under Section 376 of the PPC.

Islamabad DIG Syed Ali Raza took immediate notice of the sexual abuse case and directed the officers to apprehend the culprit on a priority basis. A specialised police team was formed under the supervision of the SSP Investigation.

The SSOIU and Golra police teams utilised all scientific and technical resources and successfully apprehended the accused involved in this case. The police teams also obtained a physical remand of the accused, and further investigation is underway.
