Punjab CM hails IMF response

Says govt trying to address economic distress of people

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has hailed positive response of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with regard to prosperity in the country.

She stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his team had performed a commendable role to cope with the economic crises prevailing in the country.

"The economy of Pakistan as entered into a take-off position," she said.

"The ongoing programme of the IMF will prove to be the last one. The time is not far when Pakistan will emerge as an economic power," she added. The chief minister said the PML-N government was striving under the leadership of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to resolve the economic distress of the people.

The CM said it was a welcome sign to see the national economy on the path of progress after getting strong and stable. The aspirations of the Pakistani people hinge on the PML-N government, she added.

With the reduction of policy rate, positive effects will start accruing in the business sector and on the economy. The confidence of investors is increasing day by day. The prices of essential edibles are at the lowest level as compared to other provinces. The people have heaved a sigh of relief with the reduction in price hike, she said.

Meanwhile, CM Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to Hazrat Mian Mir on the eve of his 401st Urs. She ordered foolproof security measures and other arrangements for the visitors on the occasion. She said the devotees should not face any difficulty.

The chief minister also expressed grief over the demise of religious scholar Maulana Abdul Raheem Chitrali.
