Kate Winslet has spoken about her portrayal of renowned photojournalist Lee Miller in the upcoming biopic Lee, where she embraced a more natural version of herself. Winslet recently shared that a crew member suggested she hide her "belly rolls" during a topless scene, but the Academy Award-winning actress dismissed the comment. “You think I’m not aware you can see that? I just went, ‘I’m all good,’” Winslet told Time.

In Lee, Winslet plays the iconic World War II photographer, a role she chose to approach without altering her physical appearance. The actress said she deliberately stopped exercising for the role, explaining to Harper’s Bazaar UK, “It is my life on my face, and that matters. It wouldn’t occur to me to cover that up.” Winslet also noted how comfortable she has become with her body as she ages. “I’m more comfortable in myself as each year passes,” she added, emphasizing her advocacy for body positivity.

The Lee biopic, directed by Ellen Kuras, will premiere in theaters on September 27. Alongside Winslet, the film features an ensemble cast including Marion Cotillard, Andrea Riseborough, and Alexander Skarsgård. Winslet’s portrayal of Miller celebrates the photographer’s trailblazing career, which began as a model and transitioned into documenting World War II for Vogue.

Reflecting on the praise she received for her response to the crew member’s comment, Winslet humbly said, “That’s not f—ing brave. I’m not an ex-postmaster fighting for justice, I’m not in the Ukraine. I’m doing a job that matters to me.”
