Billie Eilish misses 2024 MTV VMAs: Here’s the real reason why

Despite four nominations, Billie Eilish skipped the 2024 MTV VMAs to prepare for her upcoming world tour.

Billie Eilish, one of the top nominees at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), was notably absent from the star-studded event on September 11, 2024. While many fans wondered why she missed the ceremony—especially given her four nominations—an industry insider revealed that Billie had a good reason: she's in deep preparation for her upcoming world tour.

"With her world tour starting in two weeks, Billie is focused on getting ready," a source told E! News on September 12. The tour, in support of her third album Hit Me Hard and Soft, kicks off in Quebec City on September 29, before heading across North America and beyond. The singer will perform in Australia, Europe, and more through mid-2025.

Although Billie couldn't attend, she still snagged the Video for Good award for her Barbie soundtrack song "What Was I Made For?". The night, however, belonged to Taylor Swift, who took home seven awards, including Video of the Year. Other highlights included performances by Katy Perry and Megan Thee Stallion.

While Billie gears up for her tour, fans can look forward to more great music and unforgettable performances from the 22-year-old superstar.
