LAHORE:

The police have arrested several people involved in an altercation with a polio worker during an ongoing vaccination campaign.

According to officials, a man and several women were detained following the incident.

A case was registered against the suspects on the complaint of the area supervisor of the campaign.

After the chief minister took notice of the incident, a spokesperson for Lahore police stated, "We are implementing foolproof security arrangements for the peaceful conduct of the anti-polio campaign across the city."

Over 1,200 personnel have been deployed in the provincial capital to safeguard the polio teams. The spokesperson said the security arrangements would remain in place throughout the campaign scheduled to conclude on September 15.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana warned that no negligence would be tolerated in ensuring the safety of the anti-polio teams. "Immediate action will be taken in case of any untoward incident," he said.
