ISLAMABAD:

District and Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand will replace Amjad Iqbal Ranjha as special judge Central to hear new Toshakhana case against PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi.

He was nominated by Islamabad High Court after judge Amjad Iqbal Ranjha requested that he could not continue his services as special judge Central due to personal reasons and his services to be returned to Lahore High Court.

The sources said the Islamabad High Court accepted his request and replaced him with Justice Shahrukh Arjumand. Federal Ministry for Law and Justice will grant final approval for the appointment of Justice Shahrukh Arjumand as special judge Central.

After NAB amendments verdict, the new Toshakhana case was transferred to the court of Special Judge Central Amjad Iqbal Ranjha. Since he was on leave, Special Judge Central 2 Humayun Dilawar heard the case and served notices on Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to appear on September 16 in the court of Special Judge Central Amjad Iqbal Ranjha.

Meanwhile, PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi moved Islamabad High Court (IHC), requesting the court to direct the trial court to announce its verdict on the bail petition in the new Toshakhana case.

The petition filed through Barrister Salman Safdar, Khalid Chaudhry and Faisal Chaudhry stated that the trial court was making unnecessary delay in deciding the bail after arrest petition.

In another case, IHC has summoned the DG Operations and SP on Sept 18 in a petition seeking recovery of Umar Sultan, former security in-charge of PTI founder Imran Khan.
