In a horrific crime that has shocked Switzerland, former Miss Switzerland finalist Kristina Joksimovic was allegedly murdered and her body dismembered and dissolved by her husband, Thomas.

The 38-year-old model's remains were found in their home in Binningen, near Basel, in February this year.

Thomas, 41, confessed to the murder during a crime reconstruction but claimed it was in self-defense after his wife attacked him with a knife. However, an autopsy report revealed that Kristina was strangled to death.

According to local news outlet BZ Basel, Thomas used a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears to dismember Kristina's body in their laundry room. He then allegedly used a hand blender to "puree" her remains and dissolved them in a chemical solution.

Thomas was arrested the day after Kristina's body was found. He initially told investigators he found her dead and dismembered her body in a panic. However, the court denied his appeal for release, citing his confession and the gruesome nature of the crime.

Kristina Joksimovic was a successful catwalk coach and mother of two. She was crowned Miss Northwest Switzerland and was a finalist for Miss Switzerland in 2007.
