Kendrick Lamar teases ongoing Drake feud on new track: 'Sometimes you gotta result in violence'
Kendrick Lamar surprised fans by unveiling a new song titled “Watch the Party Die” on his Instagram page.
This marks his first new music since the hit single “Not Like Us,” which was a major success amid his public rivalry with Drake earlier this year.
In the new track, Lamar doesn’t hold back, weaving references to Christian rapper Lecrae and Terrace Martin, alongside a poignant nod to media figures pushing narratives, as he raps, “The radio personality pushing propaganda for salary / Let me know when they turn up as a casualty.”
The song's lyrics also hint at the unresolved tensions with Drake: “Just walked that man down, that’ll do everyone a solid / It’s love but tough love, sometimes you gotta result in violence.”
Adding more intrigue, the cover art of the song features a pair of beat-up sneakers, subtly referencing the cover for Drake’s “Push Ups,” which previously poked fun at Lamar’s shoe size.
“Watch the Party Die” comes shortly after the announcement of Lamar’s upcoming performance at the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime show, his second appearance following a star-studded halftime show with Dr. Dre in 2022.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” said Lamar about the Halftime show. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
The track has quickly garnered attention, climbing the charts and continuing Lamar’s reign as a powerful voice in hip-hop.
This release further cements his position at the forefront of the genre and as a pivotal figure in its ongoing evolution.
