Over 700 SAG-AFTRA members, including notable figures like Mark Ruffalo and Ramy Youssef, have signed an open letter demanding protection from blacklisting for their pro-Palestine stance amidst the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. The letter also calls for a permanent ceasefire and condemns violence against journalists.

The members express concern about SAG-AFTRA's previous statement condemning Hamas' attacks, while remaining silent on the Israeli government's actions in Gaza. They highlight the devastating impact on civilians and journalists, emphasizing the need for the union to advocate for human rights and freedom of speech.

The letter criticizes the union leadership's alleged lack of response to their concerns, despite numerous attempts to communicate. It also draws attention to the global call for a ceasefire and the actions taken by other unions in solidarity with Palestine.

The signatories urge SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher and other guild leaders to take a stand, issue a public statement calling for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid, and protect members from facing backlash for expressing their views.

This open letter reflects the growing concern among SAG-AFTRA members about the Israel-Gaza conflict and the importance of protecting freedom of speech within the entertainment industry.
