Pakistan's Ambassador meets new UNGA President Yang, Discusses Agenda for 79th Session

UNITED NATIONS:

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, discussed the agenda of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly when he formally called on the new President of the 193-member Assembly, Philemon Yang of Cameroon, at UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday, and assured him of Pakistan’s cooperation.

The Ambassador congratulated President Yang on his assumption of UNGA’s Presidency of the current session.

During the meeting, Ambassador Akram welcomed President Yang’s focus on sustainable economic growth, peace and security and human dignity, which are the fundamental pillars of the UN Charter, amid multiple complex crises facing the world, a press release of the Pakistan Mission said,
He expressed Pakistan’s hope that the United Nations will succeed in addressing the global challenges under his wise leadership.

The General Assembly President thanked Ambassador Akram for his warm felicitations.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, President Yang wrote, “Grateful for the opportunity to meet with Ambassador Munir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN. Appreciate the support extended on the work of the 79th session and the upcoming #UNGA79 High-Level Week.”
