The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards kicked off with a memorable night, as Taylor Swift and Post Malone were awarded Best Collaboration for their song “Fortnight.” The award was presented by Flavor Flav and Olympian Jordan Chiles. During her acceptance speech, Swift paid tribute to the victims and families affected by the 9/11 tragedy 23 years ago before turning to praise her collaborator. “There is a reason Post Malone is everyone in music’s favorite person to collaborate with,” she said, adding humor by noting it took time for him to stop calling her “ma’am.”

The show began with an energetic performance by Eminem, who was joined by lookalikes as he performed a medley of his hits “Houdini” and “Somebody Save Me,” the latter featuring a broadcast of Jelly Roll, whose hit song “Save Me” was referenced during the set.

Host Megan Thee Stallion took the stage, humorously rebranding the VMAs as the “voluptuous Megan awards.” The night continued with a fiery performance from Karol G, who wowed the audience with her hit, “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido.”

The event, held at UBS Arena on Long Island, New York, was a star-studded celebration of the year's biggest moments in music.
