ISLAMABAD:

European Union's Special Envoy for the Promotion of Religion and Belief Frans van Daele on Wednesday called on Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Chaudhry Salik Hussain to discuss the growing global concerns over religious intolerance, terrorism, sectarianism, and the promotion of peace and interfaith harmony.

During the meeting, both the dignitaries expressed their commitment to collaborate in combating religious intolerance and fostering a peaceful future.

Minister Salik highlighted Pakistan's dedication to protecting the rights of minorities, stating that a comprehensive policy on interfaith harmony had been formulated and submitted to the federal cabinet for approval. He emphasized that Pakistan was resolute in promoting religious tolerance.

"Over 700 scholars representing various religions and sects have endorsed the Paigham-e-Pakistan document," the minister said, adding that "no individual is permitted to take the law into their hands in the name of religion".
