Police protests hamper traffic, polio campaign
Police officers in the Bajaur district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have announced a protest against ongoing targeted killings and the martyrdom of their colleagues. The Bajaur police have decided to hold a sit-in at the Khar Police Headquarters on Thursday, while also boycotting duties for the ongoing polio drive
In a video message released by the police officers, it was stated that all personnel will gather at 9 am at the Police Line Ground, where officers will announce their future course of action.
The police officers have demanded that the government arrest the killers of their martyred colleague, Sepoy Luqman, who was targeted in broad daylight. During the protest, the police also decided to boycott polio duty.
This is the second police protest in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, following a similar one in Lakki Marwat, raising serious concerns about security in the province.
The police protest in Lakki district has entered its third day. The Indus Highway remains blocked from both sides, forcing passengers to spend their nights on the roads. Negotiations with senior officials have failed, and a uniformed protest has been announced for Thursday.
