Singer Frankie Beverly dies at 77

Frankie Beverly, the legendary vocalist and leader of the band Maze, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, at the age of 77. 

His family confirmed his death on Wednesday, September 11, releasing a heartfelt statement requesting privacy as they mourn. The family expressed their deep sorrow, stating, "Grieving the loss of a loved one is a deeply personal and emotional experience," and emphasized their need for time and space to heal, asking for respect during this period.

Born Howard Stanley Beverly on December 6, 1946, Frankie Beverly was best known for his work with the soul and funk band Maze, which he founded in Philadelphia in 1970 under the original name Raw Soul. After relocating to San Francisco and connecting with Marvin Gaye, Maze achieved significant success, releasing nine Gold albums and building a devoted fan base. Beverly, as the band's lead singer, songwriter, and producer, was celebrated for his smooth baritone voice and captivating stage presence.

In their statement, the family paid tribute to Beverly’s life and legacy, saying, "He lived for his music, family, and friends. Love one another as he would want that for us all." Beverly's influence on music continues to be celebrated through his timeless contributions.
