Kamala Harris exits debate watch party to Taylor Swift's ‘The Man’ after securing endorsement

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris left her debate watch party on September 10, 2024, to the sound of Taylor Swift’s feminist anthem “The Man” after her debate with former President Donald Trump. As she wrapped up the event, Harris told her supporters, “Hard work is good work and we will win,” before waving and exiting the stage. As Swift’s song played, Harris gave high fives to supporters with the lyrics, “I’m so sick of running as fast as I can / Wondering if I’d get there quicker if I was a man,” echoing through the venue.

Earlier that evening, Swift publicly endorsed Harris for the 2024 presidential election via Instagram. In her post, Swift said, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.” The endorsement came after concerns over misinformation spread online, with fake AI images showing Swift falsely endorsing Trump. “It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter,” Swift explained in her post.

Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, also acknowledged Swift’s endorsement during a live appearance on MSNBC. “I am incredibly grateful, first of all, to Taylor Swift… that’s the type of courage we need in America,” Walz said, expressing his appreciation for Swift’s support.

This endorsement adds to the ongoing momentum of Harris’ campaign as the race against Trump intensifies ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
